Plot Summary

Del O'Cleon is a Washington hipster with a very uncool problem. Her father, Phil O'Cleon, has a serious case of Tea Party fever, and he'll do anything to join the enthusiastic mobs descending on the capitol with their pickets signs and Gadsden flags. To make matters worse, a ferocious pack of Mama Grizzlies has taken a special interest in Phil, and they’re determined to sneak him out of the house and get him to the latest rally. Can Del pry her father from their manicured claws? Will the old man settle for the comforts and crumpets of a stay-at-home tea party? And just how much will go wrong when father and daughter try to mix and mingle with the liberal elite?

In this uproarious adaptation of Aristophanes’ Wasps—complete with song, dance, and some big swinging comic phalluses—satirizing ontemporary American political culture with all the obscenity of ancient comedy.

Come join the party!

Parking and Transportation

Parking is free and available at most Stanford parking lots after 4pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.

The large parking lot nearest to the theater, the Elliott Program Center, is L-29, at the corner of Governor's Avenue and Santa Teresa Street. Single spaces may be available closer, however. Other nearby lots may be accessed from Santa Teresa Street or Campus Drive West (see map).

Detailed verbal directions are as follows:

From Palo Alto:
Turn onto Palm Drive either from Embarcadero or University Ave. Once on the Stanford campus, turn right onto Campus Drive West and drive until Santa Teresa Drive. Turn left onto Santa Teresa Drive. After about one block, turn left onto Governer's Avenue. Go to the end of the street (about 150 yards) until you reach a barrier and a "Do Not Enter" sign, and turn left. Drive about 50 yards until on your right you see another barrier. Enter the barrier by driving between the curb and the physical barrier in the road, (but be careful not to drive over the barrier, as it will ruin your car) and drive about 40 yards until you reach a parking space. The Elliot Program Center is the large building facing the lake.

From Highway 101 North & South:
Take the Embarcadero Road exit west toward Stanford. At El Camino Real, Embarcadero turns into Galvez Road as it enters university property. Stay in the left lane and continue toward the center of campus. Then take Campus Drive East. Turn right on Mayfield Drive. Turn left at the next stop sign after driving one block. Go straight through one stop sign. At the next stop sign, turn right on Lomita Dr. After one and a half blocks, turn left onto Santa Teresa Drive. Continue past the next stop sign. At this point, any available parking is acceptable. However, if you want to drive up to the theater directly, continue as follows: as you near a bend, turn left on Governor's Ave, Go to the end of the street (about 150 yards) until you reach a barrier and a "Do Not Enter" sign, and turn left.

From Highway 280 North & South:
Exit Sand Hill Road east toward Stanford. Continue east, turning right at the traffic light on Santa Cruz Avenue. Make an immediate left onto Junipero Serra Boulevard. Turn left at the first stoplight, Campus Drive West. Continue around Campus Drive West and turn right when you reach Santa Teresa St. Turn right at Governor's Avenue. The Elliott Program Center will be ahead of you but not yet visible. Find parking nearby, then walk toward the (dry) Lake Lagunita. The Elliot Program Center is the large building facing the lake.
